He was later released on bail./ppPolice said the coach is believed to have broken down in the nearside lane of the carriageway when it was struck by the heavy goods vehicle./ppA 35-year-old man from the Smethwick area of the West Midlands was pronounced dead at the scene. Another male passenger and the truck driver were being treated at Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth hospital for life-threatening injuries./ppDozens of passengers, among a party of 40 fruit pickers being driven from Birmingham to Evesham, Worcestershire, were treated for less serious injuries/ppWitnesses and a survivor of the crash said the incident happened after the coach, which was not fitted with seatbelts, came to a halt near Bartley Green, Birmingham. The impact of the collision left the lorry's cab embedded in the rear of the coach./ppChief Inspector Carl Flynn, of the Central Motorway Police Group, said it was too early to speculate on the cause.
