div class="track"img alt="" src="" width="1" height="1" //divp class="standfirst"Two seriously injured and 20 others hurt as a lorry collides with a coach, leaving a section of the motorway closed/ppA coach driver has been arrested after a man was killed and two people seriously injured when a lorry crashed into a broken-down coach near Birmingham./ppWest Midlands police said 20 other people on the coach suffered minor injuries in the accident near Frankley services on the M5 in the West Midlands./ppPolice said one of the coach passengers was dead and one seriously injured. The driver of the lorry was also in a serious condition./ppWest Midlands police said a 49-year-old coach driver from Birmingham was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and later bailed./ppThe affected stretch of the M5 is likely to remain closed in both directions for a considerable time and motorists are being advised to find alternative routes./ppAn ambulance service spokesman said a number of patients were being taken to various hospitals across the area. "Whilst the majority of patients appear to be walking wounded there are a small number with potentially serious injuries," the spokesman said./ppPolice described the dead man as a 35-year-old from Birmingham who was a passenger on the coach. No children were involved in the accident./ppPaul Guppy, who saw the crash, told BBC News that there were fog patches on the motorway at the time of the crash. He was driving on the opposite carriageway at about 6.40am./pp"There were fog patches, because I was driving through it with my fog lights on. That area is renowned for having fog, there's a lot of low-lying land./pp"It was quite horrendous at the time, and then it cleared.
